What we do

Hand-painted kitchens and furniture

Existing units rubbed down, primed and finished in place — or doors taken away, sprayed and brought back. A fraction of the cost of a new kitchen.

Most kitchens people want rid of are structurally fine. The carcasses are sound, the layout works, the worktop has years left in it — it is the colour that has dated. Painting them costs a fraction of replacing them and takes days rather than weeks, with no skip on the drive.

The finish stands or falls on the preparation, which is almost entirely invisible in the finished photographs. Kitchen doors carry years of cooking grease, and paint will not key to it. Everything is degreased, rubbed down, and any chips or dents filled before a primer suited to the surface goes on — melamine, oak, MDF and previously painted units all want different products.

Hardware comes off rather than being cut around. Handles, hinges and plates are removed, the doors are finished properly, and it all goes back at the end. It takes longer, and it is the reason the edges look sharp instead of gummed up.

How we do it

What the job actually involves

  1. Degrease, then rub down

Years of cooking residue removed first, because nothing sticks to it.

  2. Fill and make good

Chips, dents and worn edges filled and sanded flat.

  3. Prime for the surface

Melamine, oak, MDF and already-painted doors each need a different primer.

  4. Hand or spray finish

Sprayed off site for the flattest finish, or brushed in place where that suits the job better.

  5. Hardware back on

Handles and hinges taken off at the start and refitted at the end.
